“....a billion stars go spinning through the night, blazing high above your head.
But in you is the presence that will be, when all the stars are dead.”
Rainer Maria Rilke
A pair of sublime films made by ScienceVision for ORF about the nature of Austria from the tip of the Großglockner to the fertile shallow waters of Lake Neusiedl. Breathtaking cinematography and masterful storytelling from Michael Schlamberger. David’s music juxtaposes poised symphonic pictures with earthy Austrian folk music. The haunting alpine vocals of Zabine Kapfinger. Guest appearances from Johannes Rohrer on the Viennese Zither and Daniel Fuchsberger on the Schrammelgitarre. Wild and ecstatic fiddle playing from Warren Zielinski and virtuosic Steirische Harmonika playing from Ernst Gottschmann. All woven together with the warm symphonic sound of the Janaček Philharmonic orchestra. Thanks also to John Parricelli for his superb guitar playing and Michael Whight for all his help with the recoding as well as his beautiful clarinet playing.
